Just when I realized I was completely in love with Kazuma's best friend, Kimishima, he died. Literally. How could he?!?! At first I thought he was so baka, but a few episodes later, he was so sweet...! I think the thing that really confirmed my fall was when he and Kanami were being held by HOLY and he was worried and scared and didn't know what to do, but when he caught her looking at him, he put on a determined/carefree face so that she wouldn't worry either.

But, being the completely perverse person that I am, I really loved the scene where you find out Kimishima is dead. I thought it was excellently done! And poor Kazuma! Carrying him all that way on his back, only to find when he arrives that it's too late! Oh, the angst! ::evil satisfied grin::

But aside from that, I am really impressed by Scryed. It seems to be so much more profound and meaningful than many other "serious" anime. The suppression of the people, the way in which HOLY is manipulating them (yes, I do love social commentary when it's done right), the way that everyone is fooled, including HOLY's own commander, Ryuuhou. And I think the way the characters are portrayed are much more realistically than is done in many anime; for some reason they seem much more adult in their thoughts and reactions than usual. I have to give my sincere thanks to the script writers and the director for doing such a great job.

It's nice to know that there are some anime that can go beyond the surface. Which is not to say I don't like my mindlessly violent action stuff too, I do! But it's still a nice change.

On the tape that we have for volume 4 (13-16), episode 16 is cut off -- and it's killing me, I have no idea what happened! Grrr! But last night I finally stopped watching at episode... 19, I believe. So I'll definitely finish it tonight or tomorrow, and that'll be one whole anime scratched off my list!
