I checked my bank account online, 'cause I can do that. I've been doing it for several years now. The first part of the main page of my account shows a breakdown of the (1) account balance, and (2) available balance, for both my checking and savings accounts. The second part of the main page shows the two loans I have out: one is the loan I took out to pay for my $2000 computer; the other is my line of credit (a modest $500 checking overdraft).

Recently, I used credit to pay for something and so under the "loan balance" column, it says "$50.38", and under the "available balance" column, it says "$449.62".

But for some reason, as I scanned the numbers, I thought the $50.38 was in the available balance column and my heart pounded right through the walls of chest, splattered on the monitor, and left a trail of blood as it slid down the screen, turning my vision red for one hazy moment.

Still in a panic, I checked the detail pages for my checking account and the checking overdraft account, but there were no transactions listed in the 449-dollar amount. I clicked back to the main page and looked more closely at the figures, finally discovering that I'd had a heart attack explosion for no reason.

And I can't figure out why it happened; I've never gotten mixed-up about the columns before! And it's only been a few days since I last checked it online (which I do quite often, by the way).

I have to go calm down, now... I know my blood is still racing.
If you don't have an account you can create one now.
