Samurai Deeper KYO is sugoi! Earlier in the week (around Tuesday), Angelica and I went to see Tony, and although he wasn't there, I did get my Azumanga Daiou tapes back, along with 2 more volumes of Chobits and the first two volumes of Samurai Deeper KYO. I didn't know he had the Chobits and SDK, but when I saw them I snatched them up right away.
I didn't exactly remember all of
gokumew2's descriptions of SDK, I only remembered her gushing over it a lot. So when I saw that Tony had it, I decided to take a chance on it. I'm so glad that I did! It's similar to Rurouni Kenshin -- mostly in the setting and samurai aspects... and the whole sordid past with a sort of new leaf thing in the present. But, in my opinion, Kyo is cooler than Himura was, considering he's not against kicking -- and killing -- some ass when the need arises. But, of course, there are differences that make SDK a story in its own right, and not just a copy of RK.
When I started watching, I had no idea of the story whatsoever -- a completely blank slate with no pre-formed ideas. When I first saw Mibu Kyoshiro and Onime no Kyo fighting against each other, my first thought was something like, "I love those red eyes... and the red hair... and he sounds really awesome." But I have to admit that my allegiances are usually determined by who has the nicest hair (in my opinion), and while I love long hair, Kyo's hair was just a bit too... bushy... for me. And Kyoshiro's hair was just perfect... that long, sleek black hair, tied up in a high ponytail... sorta like Mikagami's from Flame of Recca. So I was torn. But then when you get to the present and see Kyoshiro's hair is all short, I was so disappointed! All that beautiful long hair... gone!
But then, when Kyo comes out again... he made Kyoshiro look... ::drool:: ...sexy. To-die-for-sexy. I mean, those mean-looking, slanted red eyes, that short, choppy black hair. It was just beautiful. And I like the black outfit Kyo wears better than the white version that Kyoshiro wears. And his voice is... ::sigh:: I can't help liking Kyoshiro -- he's funny, and you know that he's strong and cool, too, considering he was holding his own against Onime no Kyo (which translates to something like "demon eyes" Kyo) -- but I always fall for the mean ones. Especially the mean ones that have even a hint of sweetness underneath. The sweet ones with hints of meanness underneath are great, too, but they're just not the same.
So I continued to watch... and there's this one guy that I kept seeing in the opening and ending credits who caught my interest. He wears a bandana and has a silly smile. I wondered who he was. Turns out, he's a villain voiced by Seki Toshihiko! Oh, kirei! Toshihiko-san uses his Duo voice, which is even more cool... and in the episode I just finished (episode 5), you get a hint that Benitota is more than he seems... and, what's even better, Toshihiko-san used that awesome, really deep villain voice that he uses for his bad bad-guys! And did I mention that while Koyasu only plays a minor character, two of the other main characters (the two who helped Kyoshiro against Kyo in the beginning) are voiced by Ogata Megumi and Ishida Akira?!
Oh, the insane fangirl giddiness was overwhelming! Oh yes, I think this is going to be my latest anime obsession... I'm really looking forward to it.
In addition, I saw 6 more episodes of Chobits (16-21), which ended at exactly where I'm up to in the manga (somewhere in volume 4, I believe). Which is good 'cause I want to get further into the manga before I continue with the anime.

Isn't Kyou just AWESOME!? I adore his eyes. His personality's got me, too. Bweehehehehehe. I can just go on and on about it. ^^
Personally, I like SDK more than RK. RK is great of course, but SDK.. OMG... One word: Kyou!! I kinda like Kyou in Kyoushirou's body more than his real body. ^^; NE!! Doesn't Konishi sama sound so sexy as Kyou? It's amazing how diff Kyou and Kyoushirou sound when Konishi sama does both of their voices. That's talent!
You need to see Kyoushirou's strength later in the series. Maybe 'round ep 18ish. Very strong, but I can't help loving Kyou better. X3
Trust me, you're gonna be rootin' for Kyou and Yuya. ^^ Kyou totally reminds me of Tooya. (When I said that to Sotsu chan, she told me Konishi sama did Tooya's voice, too >_>)
Seki Toshihiko sama's chara's name is actually Benitora. Midorikawa sama's chara, Migeira, comes in like ep 6 or 7. Koyasu sama has another chara, I forget his name, that comes in ep uhh... 19 or 20. Seki Tomokazu sama is also in the series. He comes in ep 19? Hai, Ogata sama does Yukimura, and Ishida sama does Sasuke.
The reason why I started watching SDK was because Midorikawa sama was in it. Ha, but when I watched the first ep, I was like, O_O!!!! As much as I'm biased towards Midorikawa characters, I have to say I love Kyou more. He's my latest obsession. =3 Migeira be second in the series though. his eyes are pretty cool, but don't match up to Kyou's.
As for scandalations, I'll get back to ya on that. I found one site, but when I went there again, they were gone. Meanwhile, check out SDK's Japanese sites:

Wa~ Sorry for such a long comment. ^^;; As you can see, I can go on, and on, and on, and on... about SDK. Hehe!
