Oooh, I highly recommend most of Weber's books! I'd start with either the Honor Harrington series ("On Basilisk Station" is book 1), or the Empire of Man series ("March Upcountry"), or one of his few stand alone novels, "The Excalibur Alternative". =DDD
Oh! Also, a lot of his books are free online (legally) because the publisher is AWESOME.
