This whole fucking band is a guilty pleasure.

Back in 2006 I was a teeny bit obsessed with Panic! At the Disco's album A Fever You Can't Sweat Out (2005). It was only for a month or two, but I still do love all the songs on that album-- clearly they're on the lighter side of my music spectrum, but jesus, the way Brendon Urie uses his voice is kind of exactly what I like to hear. And then, the lyrics are interesting, the music is interesting. Well, I found it to be so, anyway.

But they completely fell off my radar after that and I didn't even know about their second album Pretty. Odd. (2008) (which sounds kind of like a modern Beatles album, which I find boring) and then just found out about Vices & Virtues (2011) (which sounds closer to the first album but still mostly boring) in time to catch their show at Terminal 5 this past Tuesday. LOL, YOU DON'T EVEN WANT TO KNOW HOW MANY 15-YR OLD GIRLS WERE AT THAT FUCKING SHOW. I got there for doors open and decided to just wait on the side while the sea of teenage girls went in. Christ, what a scary moment. I don't think I've ever been to a concert with that many percentage (overwhelming majority) of girls. Seriously. They're a really fun live, though -- they certainly know how to talk to the crowd, keep us engaged, etc.

What I discovered while at the show (with Rich, [livejournal.com profile] starsparkle333, [livejournal.com profile] zeenell, and [livejournal.com profile] likeaglass) is that P!ATD are like, TWENTY-FOUR. Which means when their first album came out, when I was 24, THEY WERE BARELY EIGHTEEN. I just find it kind of funny that I like their stuff from when they were so very young, and not the stuff from now, when the age difference isn't all that signficant.

...did I mention how [livejournal.com profile] likeaglass has been trying to pimp me into P!ATD-bandom since RatJam? And now that I've seen them live I realize I really should read those BDSM fics she sent me....

I almost don't want to single out a particular song because I really like the album as a whole, but Lying Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off is probably my favorite by a nose.

Fave lines: is it still me that makes you sweat? / am I who you think about in bed?
and also i've got more wit, a better kiss, a hotter touch, a better fuck / than any boy you'll ever meet, sweetie you had me
