Yeah I think thats part of it. My usual fandoms are a whole lot bigger so this is never an issue.
I read them and adore them for the most part. It got hard to finish book 3 but that was just me. So far the HDM crossover I've seen (2 inception, 1 sherlock) haven't been spoilerly. They've just been set in the same world.
