I'm game to debate the first link. I think it raises some very good points, but they aren't perfect. I've been having the same debate about the ring since I first saw the movie.
There's room to argue that the ring is his totem, and when he's dreaming, he wears it. But after his cathartic "letting go" of Mal, I could easily imagine that his ideal, "dream self" would also let go.
Also, there's evidence to suggest that the entire movie is a dream state ,to plant the "wake up" inception in Cobb. It's really a dense, awesome movie with a lot to think about. Next time we hang out, we'll have to talk about it!
Let me know when you watch Memento, there's some neat symmetry there, and it's worth looking/thinking about.
