osaraba: (hcl billy doesn't get shit)

Just watched the first 5 episodes of Twitch City. So far amusing, but I'm not dying with laughter or anything. Still, more clever than the usual.

Many of you would recognize a couple of the recurring actors on this show from Kids in the Hall. CKR (yes, this is a CKR-related post) apparently went to high school with Mike McCullough of KITH-fame.

In any case, episode 5 is the first heavily Newbie-related episode and AWWWWW! More cute, even, than funny. Nice to see Curtis actually enjoying himself for a change, you know? If he's determined to be an ass in every episode (as well as Molly Parker's character, Hope, being a pushover), I will soon get bored with it.

But oh god, Newbie and Curtis's TV-challenge was great, and Newbie dancing in the store with Hope is awesome, and also CKR asking HUGH DILLON if there's anything else he can get him, SIR?! Too adorable for words! Especially knowing that they're good friends and the history of HCL they have at that point. And JEEZ, all I can think is-- "this is about as far from Billy that you could possibly get, Callum!"

Can I also note how different (exaggerated, open) CKR's facial expressions are as Newbie?

On the way home from Nerd Avengers today, on the subway, I fell asleep very briefly and had this very odd, very short dream--

Callum and Hugh were acting in something where they were fighting. They both looked HCL-era young. I think they started hitting each other, but it actually soon turned into them punching a dead body that was on a table at the morgue. It was half-covered with a sheet, but the more they punched, the more the sheet slipped to reveal a very badly burned body.

The body was unrecognizable just from a look, but the police had identified it (it had a tag on its toe) -- and I just all of a sudden knew that it was Callum. Or maybe Billy. I think it went back and forth once or twice. Anyway, when I realized it was Callum, I think that both I and he (the alive, punching version) started gagging. A LOT. (It was a VERY badly burned corpse.) But then Hugh, who I think was at this point possibly Joe Dick again, started punching the body even harder, getting really, really upset.

And it's interesting that it was Joe punching Billy/Callum and not the other way around.

And that's when I woke up.

Poor Joe. How sad for them all.

Update: I remembered a bit more: realized that Callum didn't gag A LOT, actually, we both gagged a little, but then when Hugh/Joe started punching the body harder, we both FLINCHED. With every time he landed a hit, we flinched. The reason I remember this is because I was actually making a wincing face while I was dreaming, and I woke up realizing I was scrunching up my face a lot while sleeping on the train. Hahaha, I love the NYC subway.
