Despite the heat and humidity, I had a good time at Japan Day in Central Park. It was quite a bit smaller than I imagined it would be, but it was fun, mostly because I was hanging out with friends. I think it might have been kind of lame if I had just gone expecting to be entertained by the programming, though.
It was kind of unfortunate that it wasn't sunny, but since that means it would have been even warmer, I suppose it's okay. Got there at just about 1pm -- just in time to meet up with people and to see the cosplay contest at 1:30.
Carrie won the cosplay contest with a 10/10 for her costume and an 8/10 for performance (her spinning was spectacular). =D She really had the best costume ~ she looked fabulous. ...and I got a ton of awesome photos, of both her and the event in general.
We hung around for a while and Judy and I went to have our names written by calligraphers, and to try our hands at writing calligraphy ourselves, which was fun. I wrote 幸せ (shiawase = happiness). ^^;
I knew that Margaret (that friend from high school) was going to be there, but I found out Monday night at J-class that she was only there from 10 til 12:30 'cause of the heat. Another classmate is the producer with the company (or at least one of the companies) hired to record the event. Pretty cool, huh? He also stayed til around 3:30, but I didn't see him (he was probably backstage, etc.).
