Nice night. And not just the weather.
Mar. 16th, 2003 02:39 amWe had so much fun tonight, I'm really glad we went out! Liz and I met Angelica at GCS at 6pm (when she gets out of work) and headed over to the Village. We took the 6, so we got out at Astor Place and decided to stop by Wheels of London first, before heading over to Crazy Fantasy. So we stopped in, but (thankfully) didn't see anything that really caught our eyes. Probably because we're dead broke now.
But on the way over to Wheels, we saw a few people carrying Hot Topic bags. Liz noticed them and told me to ask them if there was one in the area, which I promptly told Angelica to do. But they'd already gone a bit ahead of us and she didn't want to. I suggested we just turn around and go to the East Village to look around. Angelica said okay, but that she wanted to go to Wheels first.
After not seeing anything that demanded to be bought (with money we don't have), we went back toward St. Marks and strolled around, browsing. When we got to Second Avenue, we turned left and started walking. We didn't get very far; the extent of our search turned up a Starbucks in the background of a photograph, so we turned back around and started walking in the other direction. We came across Toy Tokyo, on the second floor of 121 Second Avenue, above a Sushi restaurant. We went up and looked around for a bit before leaving (emptyhanded again!). They had some cute stuff, mostly American (lots of Simpsons, Nightmare Before Christmas stuff), but there was also some decent Japanese stuff (like G-taste figurines!). We walked to the cornere there and went into a second-hand shop -- they had clothes, toys, novelties, etc. I don't remember what the store was called, though.
After that we walked back up toward Lafayette Street, left toward West 4th St, then toward 6th Avenue, where the piercing place is. You must remember, of course, that the three of us are acting like we usually do when we get together: giddy, insane, wild. The usual. Of course, this is the Village, no one even notices, much less cares. But I think Angelica was extra loud tonight, just to make up for it.
When we got to 6th Avenue, we walked toward Crazy Fantasy and I turned to go in, but Angelica and Liz said that we were supposed to eat first (at the Taco Bell/KFC a few doors down). But I said that I thought we'd just get our ears pierced first 'cause it takes much less time to do that than to sit and eat and chat. So we turned back to go in.
The Foo-Fighters-look-alike-guy was standing by the open doorway, smoking a cigarette and drinking a cup of coffee. We went in and paid for our piercings, which since we brought our own CBRs, were supposed to be $15 each, but have now been upped to $20 each. ::glares:: Anyway, we paid, and waited for our turn in the piercing chair. I got to see someone else get their nose pierced with a nose screw, by the way -- it was very nice. ^_~
So Angelica said I should go first, so I sat in the chair and prepared to be pierced and to have my 16ga CBR put in. If you remember, I planned on getting a 4th hole in my right lobe. He pierced. He put in the CBR. It bled. This was actually quite surprising 'cause I haven't bled much (practically not at all) for my ear piercings. But this one wouldn't stop for a few mintues. The piercing guy's so cute; he was cleaning it and stuff and when Angelica finally told me it was bleeding (I didn't know), he tried to reassure me that it was okay and stuff. Of course, I didn't care 'cause it's not like I was going to bleed to death from a small hole in my ear. And I told him so. He positioned the hole quite nicely in my ear, although my right ear is shaped a bit oddly, so the ring is at a different angle from the rest of the rings, so it looks like it's sort of at odds with the others on my ear. It doesn't look so bad, but I think I might consider changing it to a smaller diameter once it's healed. (You can't really tell well from the pic.)
Next was Angelica's turn; she had the first hole in her left ear done, so that her first hole became her second hole and so on. It didn't bleed. I asked the piercing guy why, and he said mainly 'cause she was pierced with a 14ga. I said, Oh. This time, Angelica remembered to ask him for his name -- it's Shlomi! So now we know! But maybe I'll still keep calling him the Foo-Fighers-look-alike-piercing-guy. (Unless I'm trying to type more quickly.) And, I asked her to ask him how much a nipple piercing would be. He said $35 for one, $60 for two, but that he'd do it for us for $30 for one 'cause we're massively returning customers. ^^ Wasn't that great of him? Of course, that's how you keep your clients, but still.

After all this we went to Taco Bell/KFC and ate. I had KFC 'cause I've been eating Taco Bell way too much lately and I was a bit sick of it, but that was a big mistake 'cause it was really disgusting. I think we stayed there for about an hour maybe? Until about 9pm. Then, since none of us really wanted to go home, we decided to walk around a bit. I had thought about heading up to Barnes & Noble, but we ended up walking around the West Village instead. It was quite fun; we passed an interesting shop that had rows and rows of vibrators/dildos on display. I think it might have been Pink Pussy Cat on West 4th and Greenwich, but I'm not positive.
In any case, we walked around for a while, but then Liz and I had to go to the bathroom, so we stopped at a Starbucks. We bought and shared an espresso brownie which was simply divine. One of the guys who worked there had the most amazing hair... and he was tall, skinny, good-looking... and gay. He was also reeeeaaaaallly sweet. ^^ If anyone's interested, he's at the 9th Street/2nd Avenue Starbucks.
After that we walked up 7th Avenue and out of the Village, eventually arriving at Times Square. ^^; Angelica and Liz were insanely giddy and bouncing me back and forth between them like a ping pong ball while we walked. Somewhere in the upper 20's, we saw a building to the east that was just so pretty that I was convinced to take a pic:

At Times Square we visited the Marriot Marquis where the AXNY and BAAF cons had been held last year. (Angelica had to use the bathroom this time. And oddly enough, I was wearing my BAAF staff shirt.) Angelica was pretty tired by then 'cause she'd gotten up relatively early and had been working all day. So she put her head down. And I took a picture of it. And another one, of me, taking a picture of her.
So at about 11:45 we finally made it into the train station. It was a really satisfying night -- I love walking and chatting, fooling around, hanging out, with no destination necessarily in mind. ::squeals:: I want to do it again!
But on the way over to Wheels, we saw a few people carrying Hot Topic bags. Liz noticed them and told me to ask them if there was one in the area, which I promptly told Angelica to do.
