Waiwai! Sharon ([livejournal.com profile] zerotwofan) just told me that she gave in and created an LJ of her own! So I just added her to my friends list. More friends wa yay!

The past few weeks have felt so irregular... it's been really difficult to get into a routine with my father still home from work (due to go back October 7th). I'm not working as many hours as I could because I come straight home after classes in order to be on hand just in case he should need anything or if there's an emergency of some sort. So I'm basically just making enough to get by... I don't know how I'm going to afford Yaoi-con. Granted, I do have some money put aside for that, but I have bills and things to pay off... (cell phone, monthly metro card, etc.). Not to mention, I just ordered a few things for my room for the winter... like curtains, 'cause the basement (my room) gets pretty cold... and heat is more expensive than putting up curtains.

Also, I just randomly cut loose one day and spent what little extra money I had on that digital camera... Not that I regret the purchase, but... I just wish I still had the extra money. It's just really hurting me this month -- I have all these expenses which have conspired to converge on me all at the same time.

In order to break my fall, so to speak, I'd put up a few auctions in hopes that I could use some of that for the ear piercing that I've been hoping to get lately. But I'm not sure if I'll actually be able to do it. Then again, on the [livejournal.com profile] piercing community someone said that her piercer said that it might even be better to put the barbell in immediately for an Industrial (as opposed to two CBRs, wait to heal, then put in the barbell) because the piercing angles are different, which might end up hurting later when you put in the barbell after having been pierced with CBRs. x_x It's not fair; why can't the answer just be simple. I still think that I'd rather go with two CBRs first 'cause I think it's a lot easier to heal around a CBR than a barbell (especially if the barbell just fits your ear, rather than extending past it). But then again, I'd love to get pierced with the barbell so I don't have to (1) wait until the piercings are healed in order to get the oh-so-pretty barbell, and (2) spend more money on two piercings plus barbell, rather than one piercing with barbell (probably a difference of about $30-40).

But getting back to money problems. I know I'll have enough money to get by. I know I'll probably have some extra to buy piercings. And I know I'll definitely have a bit of money to spend at Yaoi-con. It's just that... I won't have extra. I really hate that. I like having a cushion! And I got way to used to it when I was working for the UN! Kyaa!

Alright. Enough of that. In any case, I've also been reading a lot lately: Carol O'Connell has finally come out with the next book in her Mallory mystery series. But all the copies in the local (and not so local) libraries have been taken out. (Damn, and I had fooled myself into thinking she had an almost obscure following.) So, since I can't afford to buy a $7 paperback, much less the $25 hardcover Crime School really is, I borrowed her Judas Child from the library. It's the only book (of the 5 or so she's published) that has not been in the Mallory series. And so far, so good.

The thing about Carol O'Connell is... she has great characters. And the mysteries she writes are pretty cool, too. You definitely want to know whodunnit and all that. But. It's getting there that's a bit slow. I constantly try to figure out why I like her books. Then again, good characters/good character development is the major thing with me... so I guess it's not so surprising. Like I've always said when describing my own taste in reading: I can read a book with good character development with a bad plot, but I cannot read a book with a good plot and bad character development. There's simply nothing in it for me; nothing for me to invest my time in. If I wanted good plot with no character development, I'd go watch a movie. Any movie.

Boy, I think I just spent a half an hour rambling about nothing.

I'm still sort of in GW-fandom-drop-out mode, but for the past few days I've been decidedly more open to the idea of reading fics again. Maybe something will happen?! I think I'm getting excited by the idea. ::sobs:: I don't know what went wrong... maybe I burned out? How is that possible? But I know that I really miss reading about Duo and Heero! (Not to mention writing about them!)

I've got to stop rambling. This is what comes from working on a Sunday at work, when there's no business! Okay, I'm going to go. But I'm going to write more when I have something more focused to say. Really.
