... and it's all Angelica's fault.

Yes, that's right. It's all her fault; I've decided. I got another piercing. I've been itching to get one again. Ever since last week I've been wanting to get one, but I thought I had the urge in check. Then yesterday, we were going to go eat, go to the post office, and go home. What really happened? We went to the village to pick up some blue hair dye for Angelica 'cause she got tired of her blonde look. Of course, the train station gets out right in front of my favorite piercing/tattoo place. ::sigh::

I spent the whole (45-minute) train ride into the city trying to decide whether to get a stud or a hoop.

I already knew where I wanted the piercing to be... the middle of the outside of my ear, where the cartilage and the lobe meet (so I still have room for a 4th hole in my lobe, if I want, which I do, but not right now -- certainly not for the next 6 months or so, until my 3rd hole and most recent piercing are completely healed).

So, the thing is, I (finally) decided to get a hoop put in, instead of a stud. My choices were: (1) get a stud put in with the gun, then pay them to put a hoop in which would end up being $30 plus a little tip, or (2) get a hoop put in without the gun, which means they use a needle for $25 plus a little tip.

Well, I decided to get the hoop put in with the needle, and it wasn't because of the money. I was half daring myself -- because ever since the time Angelica went and got her 2nd hole on her left ear, which she had been thinking about getting a hoop put in instead of a stud, but then she saw the needle and got scared -- I've been greatly intrigued. I hadn't been with her at the time because I was at work, so I didn't see what the needle looked like, so I wanted to see what would scare her. (She doesn't scare all that easily, but she is a little squeamish sometimes.)

Anyway, the guy pulled out the needle. It didn't look all that horrible, actually. I'm not really good at estimating measurements without a ruler (then again, that wouldn't be estimating, would it?), so I can't really say what the length was (maybe 2.5 - 3 inches?) or the circumference (that I have no idea) was. So I looked at the guy and asked him how he got the hole so accurate with a needle ('cause you know, the piercer is just using his own finger to push the needle through your skin) and he said that he'd been doing it for a few years *laugh*. Then I asked how the pain was in comparison with the gun-that is, did it hurt less, the same, or more? He said that if it didn't hurt less, then it was the same.

I turned to Angelica and wondered aloud if I should take his word for it. After all, he had 2 eyebrow rings, one through the bridge of his nose, one through the middle of his nose (between the two nostrils -- I forget what you call it); in his left ear he had 3 of those earrings that stretch the hole in your lobe so that you can put something through -- they were about a quarter of an inch in diameter) -- then in the right ear he had one of those earrings and I'd estimate the diameter to be between half an inch and an inch (like I said, I'm not that good at estimating, and my eyes bugged out a little when I saw that one). Oh, did I also mention the 3-inch barbell piercing the back of his neck?

::sigh:: He looked really nice, if a little scary.

So, I said okay to the needle.

Why? Well, half of it was because I wanted to see Angelica's reaction… I admit it. =D The other half was because I was daring myself to see how much it would hurt.

Me? Masochistic? Nah.

So in any case, I got my ear pierced with that needle. It actually doesn't hurt any more than the gun does, the only difference is that with the gun it's like, one second everything's normal, the next second, there's all of a sudden an earring in your ear and your ear feels all warm. But with the needle, you can feel it, and hear it, going through your skin. It's like a small whoosh that sinks into your ear.

It's cool.

Anyway, the guy had the hoop and ball ready for my ear-silver hoop, silver ball-which is exactly what I wanted. Except that the hoop was thicker than I had realized, so after it was all done and I looked in the mirror I kind of panicked (just a little) about the hoop being too thick. But what was done, was done, right?

The guy told me that I shouldn't turn it or play with it during the day, well basically any time that I wasn't cleaning it. That's going to be hard 'cause I'm always playing with and turning my earrings. That's what I do with them. But last night when I got home I tried turning it while cleaning it and it hurt like fucking shit! (That's supposed to be that it hurt like expletive-expletive!, not that it hurt like actually fucking shit-I've never done that before, nor do I care to, but I wouldn't think that it would hurt.) It's never hurt to turn my earrings before, but then again, I've never had a hoop as the first earring in the hole before, either.

That sounds SO hentai. ::rolls eyes::

Oh, so if you haven't gotten the point of the subject…. It's that I now have eight piercings. >_
