day 21 - a song that you listen to when you’re happy

SURF ROCK. I love it so much. I love to listen to it when I'm in a very specific sort of happy mood, certain circumstances, and yeah... when it's really sunny outside?

Of course I love the original version of this song by the Beach Boys, but you know it's David Lee Roth's raspy-voiced, super-sexualized solo cover of California Girls from the mid-80s that will forever reside in my heart.

Fave lines: well east coast girls are hip / i really dig those styles they wear

And there's just no way I could leave out my favorite; the iconic surf rock artist: Dick Dale's Misirlou -- even though the song has been around in some form or another for over 30 years before Dick Dale (and then the Beach Boys) recorded it.

List of all days.

I must have been about nine or ten years old when that video came out. And yet, I can still remember how obsessed I was with it. Between that and "Girls, Girls, Girls" by Motley Crue, is it any question as to why I'm gay? Hee!

Anyhoo, thank you for the flashback, Sara. :)

Oh, and I've loved "Misirlou" ever since Pulp Fiction--which, yeah, makes me tremendously mainstream. *g*
