Scouting for good CD-R deals.

Today was an odd day. We went out around 2, to eat (in a sort of belated celebration for my mom's birthday), and we ended up fighting a bit, but not as badly as we usually do — that is, not so much that we all stop speaking to each other after. ^^

After eating, we drove over to Staples because I've been looking for a good deal on CD-R stacks. Since I've gotten into anime-downloading and converting stuff to VCD for Eddie and Max (previously Tony) and also selling some VCDs on ebay, I've been going through CD-Rs like... like... like something you go through very quickly. The speed of light, perhaps? In any case, I had seemed to remember a stack of 100 Staples-brand CD-Rs for around $25-30, and so I was looking for that (even though the CD-Rs are a hideous gold color — ewwwwwww). When I found it, however, it was actually $40. I called the other Staples a few miles away (the one that I usually go to) to check the price there. They said it was $35.

While I was walking back toward my parents (on the other side of the store), trying to decide what to buy, Liz and I passed a table in the middle of an aisle with 4 stacks of 50 generic-brand CD-Rs on sale. The sign in front of them said 94¢. Of course, then I read the fine print: original price $19.94, $9.00 instant savings at register, $10 mail-in rebate. But hell, even without the rebate, I got 200 CD-Rs for the price of 100! That's definitely a good deal. And just as soon as I get my rebates (8 weeks from now), I'll have $40 (probably much-needed by then) to play around with.

It's really just what I was looking for. And just in time, too. I've been encoding Prince of Tennis all of last night and today, and downloading other random anime, like Juuni Kokki and some of the latest releases. Not to mention, Angelica gave me the .avi's of all the stuff she's downloaded in the past week or two, and so I have a tall order of encoding and converting to VCD to be done.

I don't know when I'll find the time, but... the lengths I go to, to watch good anime on a freaking TV screen. o.O*

In other news, I gave a few MBs of space from my webhost over to [livejournal.com profile] gokumew2 for her Anime Reviews blog, now located at http://ar.koyasunomiko.com (although I don't think it's completely transferred yet). She's invited me to be one of the reviewers (which is cool), but I'm going to need one of those kawaii icons... ::hinthint::

And do you know, I think I've been going around in a sort of satisfied daze for the past few days because my site and email are working now? It's just sort of ridiculous how happy I am over it. The other day, I was just sort of doing nothing, but smiling practically ::gasp:: joyfully, and when I tried to figure out why, I realized I was thinking about how great it is that my site and email are working. o.O* It's pathetic. I hope it wears off soon. Then again, all I have to do is imaging having to switch domain servers again, and I get the shudders. ::shudder::

All of this downloading and encoding and coverting of anime has made me really want to watch some, but ironically enough, I've had no time to just sit and watch. It's too cruel.
