I had no idea this wasn't an Elton John original. They actually sound pretty similar. My family did the roadtrip/distant restaurants so we could drive around thing, too. Most of my childhood memories involve driving in the car with them and ending up at restaurants, with their mix tapes playing. This song will never not remind me of my childhood and those car rides. Or anything by Marty Robbins. (Obviously my parents are way older than yours XD)
