Yeah I broke it on a bone once and twice on a cartilage growth plate XP All of 'em took about a months time at least in a cast with some tender care in ace bandages afterwards ::nodnod:: But I dunno, your mom's case sounds so much more severe than that, she'll probably be laid up for six weeks or so as that tends to be the general healing time.
